Isaiah Ochoa

On Epic, I found a cool book called J.J. Watt (Football's Greatest Stars) by Matt Scheff.   It talks about J.J. Watt's positions.  He played defensive end and tight end.  The defensive end rushes from the outside to sack the QB.  A tight end catches the ball and does a little blocking.  Those were his positions from youth all the way to college. When J.J. Watt was a rookie in college, his position was Bench.  He hardly went into a game, but he kept on practicing.  That's when he was a starter and a star.  After college, he got drafted by the Houston Texans.  He still played defensive end, but he hardly ever played tight end at that point.  He played tight end for three plays and those three plays he scored touchdowns.  I am inspired by J.J. Watt and Von Miller who is another defensive player.

I am now reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis.  The main character is Lucy. She enters a wardrobe and enters a new world. Then she comes back and tells her brothers and sister that she entered a magical land. They just laughed.   Read the book to find out what happens next.

A book that I want to read is El Deafo by Cece Bell.  It is about a girl who goes deaf and people bully her. I have this book on hold on Overdrive so that I can borrow it next. I have heard it is a good book. I really want to read it.  It's a comic graphic novel.

I am reading El Deafo.  It is about a little girl who has a problem.  However,  right now she is discovering a new problem that just started.  You will have to read it to figure out what the two problems are.

I have been reading Esperanza Rising.   What I have read so far is that Isabel started yelling Esperanza because she does not know how to clean correctly. Everyone was laughing at her.  I need to read more to find out what happens.

One thing that is great about The Haunted Playground by Shaun Tan is the scene where these kids pop out of nowhere.  That part is great because it kind of goes with the title.  It is a good book.

I finished reading The Song From Somewhere Else by A. F. Harrold.The ending is sad.  Nick gets taken from his mom.  Frank thought that since she closed the window of that dimension that Nick was gone but then...   Wait you need to read more to find out but lets say Nick is not gone and they live a happy life. It's a good song, but don't judge the book by its cover like I almost did!!

I liked a book called Sealed with a Secret.I liked this book because it is about London and how a girl is searching for a woman. Her dad owns an antique shop and she finds a letter written during the World War. Will she find the person she is looking for? If she does will she be able to find out where she lives? You should read this amazing book by Lisa Schroder.

The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe

I would like to recommend this book to you. I recommend this book because it is a very great adventure story. Another reason is that every chapter you read will get more and more interesting. (Don't read this next part if you don't want me to spoil the book for you).     

One thing that happened is that a girl named Lucy went to a men's wardrobe were they lived. Something very magical happened when she opened the wardrobe.  If you want to know what happened you have to read this book.

I have been reading a book about Nelson Mandela.  I am reading this for History Day.  This book talks about his life and what it was like for him.  It is interesting to read what they did in the past.

I have recently started reading The Boy on Cinnamon Street by Phoebe Stone. Based on what I've been reading so far, I would recommend this book if you like romance books.  It is about a girl named Louise (but she changed her name to Thumbelina) who lives with her grandma and grandpa. A pizza delivery boy keeps delivering Thumbelina love notes since he first dropped off a pizza. Now Thumbelina is trying to get Benny McCartney (the pizza boy) to notice her! Read the rest to see if Benny will fall for her!

The book I'm reading is Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix. I have barely started reading it, but so far it is getting good. The book is about a boy who is a third child and he can't go out in public or else. It's sad and on top of the problem of having to stay inside, his brothers are really mean to him. They tease him that the population police are there to catch him. One of the brothers knocked on his door and pranked him.

I am reading Ramona the Brave by Beverly Cleary. Ramona went to the park and something bad happened to Beatrice. Her mom has great news for Ramona and not for Beatrice. We will have to read the book to find out.

I read a book called El Deafo.  It is a good book because it has pictures and that helps me understand more. Also, it was interesting that the main character cannot hear.  She goes to school and the kids who are there are like kids here.  She was happy to be in school.

Sloth Soccer (Animal All-Star)

I would like to summarize this book to you.There was a sloth girl named Lenni Rainleaf that plays soccer.  She was a goalkeeper. One day she had a soccer game and she got so distracted that a moth asked her, "Do you see the grass grow?" She got so distracted that the other team made a goal. The moth took Lenni and talked to her about how to not be distracted and instead to pay attention to the game.  It told her all that she had to do.The next game Lenni tried to not get distracted. The other team tried to trick her but she remembered all that the moth had told her. When this all happened, her team had won.

Just imagine having a law that meant that you were illegal to the world until you become a teen? In this book, a kid named Luke was illegal to the world because he was the third child and more people in the world were illegal because they were third children too. Imagine having to stay inside at all times and not even be able to look out your own window and having to hide your whole life? Not so good. Luke has been having trouble in his family and he wasn't even able to have pets! Want to know more or how Luke lived his life? Read the book Among the Hidden.

I am reading Save the Cupcake by Lisa Papademetriou and Zoe Papademetriou.  Hayley, the main character, took cupcakes to school for her class.  At the point I've reached, she is baking gluten-free cupcakes for her friend that is allergic to gluten.  I have also figured out why it is called Save the Cupcake.   Someone's mom said they were going to not allow a bake sale in school because her daughter is allergic to gluten.  Now the girl that is allergic to gluten and Hayley the one with the bake sale are now baking 300 cupcakes!   Their goal is for the school to get everyone to go against the mom and vote to still have cupcakes.  So the book is called Save the Cupcake!

I like the book Rising Strong by Brene Brown because it's good to listen to.  The author knows what people like me, my family, and other people are going through. I would recommend this book to my family because it's all about how to be strong.  It helps you realize that you appreciate things that you didn't appreciate before.
