The book, James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl, might be old but it is a good book. I didn't think I would like it, but when we read it I couldn't stop. The story is about a kid named James whose parents died.  Now he lives with his aunts who are always being mean to him.  One day a guy gives James these magical green things that he drops in a peach tree that doesn't have peaches.  Suddenly there was a big peach then the adventure starts. To find out what happens, read the book.

I am reading Pluto by RJ Palacio.  It recently talked about how Christopher woke up and got news that Daisy, Auggie's dog, died that night.  Then he remembered the first time they met the dog.  You'll have to read it to figure out how they made up her name and where she came from.

One of my favorite books is called Strega Nona.  It is illustrated by Timi de Paola. The reason I like this book is because the lesson taught in this story is always listen or else something might happen. I also love it because it has singing in it. I love how the character reads and talks. I would recommend this book to others.

I'm still reading the Song from Somewhere Else by AF Harrold.   The main character met up with an old lady who wants to take over the world.  The girl doesn't want to do it so she leaves on her bike.  While she is riding, she sees her bullies running away from a lady.

I read Cowboy Up.  It was a good story.   Jake Monson was going to compete with other bull riders.  There is a lot of interesting action, but I don't want to ruin the book by telling you everything.

I read a book called Goosebumps: The Curse Of Camp Cold Lake by RL Stine.  It is a good book because it begins kind of normal but then it gets good. There is a girl who does not like to go swimming. She only likes to sometimes swim in a clean pool.  She does not like insects.   Read it to find out more!

I am STILL reading The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.  Mary has a better life now.  She is a better person because of the Secret Garden. I am almost done with the book and I recommend it.

I and my class are reading Wonder, by RJ Palacio.  I like it so far.  It is interesting that August fought 7th graders.  I hope kids will read it. I would recommend this book to kids.

One new book series that I like and now read is the Kane series by Rick Riordan.  I read the second book already and someone actually wanted to borrow it to read. I have the first book on overdrive and the third book is in my backpack.  They are thick books so you can read for hours and hours and hours!

Today I am going to give a non-recommendation. The book is Dear Mr. Henshaw by Beverly Cleary.  I did not like this book because the story does not really have a climax.  It just tells you about the life of a boy.  There is a part where there is a small mystery, but once you find out the "solution" it is not worth it.  There are small jokes in the story, but I didn't really get them. You should read it because you might have a different perspective of the book.  You might really like the book.

Wonder, by RJ Palacio, is about a deformed boy named Auggie.  He started school and there were some really mean people there.   There were also some were really nice ones.   Toward the end of the book, he was on a field trip for 2 days and 3 nights.  He was bullied on the last night and lost his hearing aids.  This book tells important lessons about being kind.

I just started reading The Disappearing Act, by Sid Fleischman. It is mainly about a girl named Kevin and her big sister, Holly. They are orphans. Orphans are children who have been abandoned by their parents.  Kevin and Holly are moving to California to escape someone who has been stalking Holly.  The girls call the stalker "The Toad."  At the point I am now, they are out of money.  You have to read this book!

The book I'm reading this week is also part of the series called Hamster Princess. This time, the book is Hamster Princess: Rapunzel by Ursula Vernon.  It is similar to the one I wrote about last week, except something different happens. I'll give you a little bit of a clue that in this book, something gets stolen by a mysterious person. Now you will have to read it on your own.

Mallory vs Max by Laurie Friedman 

I would like to summarize this book to you.  There is a girl named Mallory McDonald and she has a brother named Max.  Her brother Max is older so he often gets a little more then Mallory and she gets mad. This is the main reason why she gets mad.  One day her mom says that Max can get his own pet dog.   Even though Mallory has a cat named Cheeseburger, she still gets mad hearing this.  She also gets sad because Max is getting is a dog and Mallory says that Cheeseburger is not going to like this news.  She tries to stall her parents so her brother does not get a dog. That is what I have been reading so far.

I read Captain Underpants and the Attack of the Talking Toilets by Dav Pilkey.   It was a good book.  I thought it was weird that Melvin made something that can turn fake things into real things.

The book I got deeper into is Hamster Princess: Giant Trouble by Ursula Vernon. It is getting very interesting.  All of the characters are trapped and are trying to escape. The poor quail is trapped and doesn't really have a way to get out.  For some reason, Harriet went into the giant's room to look for his shoe. That is weird. I wonder why she did that?

There is one book that I really like.  It is called Hollow City and it's written by Ransom Riggs.  It is a really good book and you might like it too. One reason why I like this book is that there is a mystery:  people are trying to find who kidnapped one of the kids from the story.  Another reason why I like this book is that when I read this book it kind of gives me a picture in my mind about what I am reading. That is why I really like reading this book a lot.

I just started reading a book called Rocky Road by Rose Kent. It's about a girl, Tess, and her mother. They are moving to New York along with Tess's little brother, Jordan, who is deaf. A deaf person is someone who can't talk or hear. Tess's family has been on a budget, ever since his mom broke up with his dad, but, Tess's mom plans to open up an ice cream shop with the last of their money! We're both going to have read the rest to find out if the ice cream shop going to be a success or a complete failure.

Goosebumps: Claws by R.L Stine

This is a book about two kids, Mickey and Amanda, who get themselves in trouble. Well, it was less Amanda and more Mickey who did it. It starts where the Caplans asked them if the could babysit, or should I say cat-sit, for their cat, Bella.  Bella actually died 4 years ago, and then 3 other times this year. Amanda and Mickey were with her the last time she died again. They took her to a cat store called Cat Heaven. Is it a real cat heaven or just a name? They steal the cat that looks exactly like Bella.  Then Mickey gets haunted by cat's cries, wails, and presents like DEAD MICE!  Is the cat really the same cat or a look alike?  How did the Caplans revive Bella to live again?  Will Mickey live with his curse forever or get out of it? I don't know.  Just kidding! I do know, but you can find out by reading the book.

I am at the end of the Julian chapter of Wonder by RJ Palacio.  I read how Julian wrote an apology note to Auggie.  They had a fight with Julian's grandma about Auggie.  You'll have to read the book to know what the argument was about and what Julian was writing about.

Paws off Cheddarface by Geronimo Stilton  

I would like to recommend this book to you. This book is sometimes funny and sometimes sad. I like how some of the words are written in swirly or fancy ways. A clue about the book is that a mouse or (rat) keeps on getting copied by the same mouse and he gets in very big trouble (sad part). Not everyone believes him about "the other him" which is causing big problems in his life.  Not even his sister believes him.  He comes up with a very funny solution. That is why I recommend this book to you.

I am reading a book called The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I am enjoying this book.  It is about a girl that doesn't know how to read but her foster dad is teaching her to read. The book is very descriptive.   It shows you the characters' feelings. I have not gotten to the climax yet, but I am pretty sure there is going to be one.  I think it will be a really big one that might affect the characters.

I am reading a book called Goosebumps: The Curse Of Camp Lake by RL Stine.   It is so spooky and scary! It is good because the characters are camping in the story.  Camping makes it scary to me.  You should read it!

I am reading a book called Soccer Surprise by Jake Maddox. It's about a girl named Alex, and she plays on a soccer team. Her mom and dad tell her some bad news. She has to move to a different town. The position she plays in soccer has to be changed, but the position is good for her so she doesn't want to change positions.

I have been reading Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan.    It is about a girl whose father dies on her birthday.  Her tio, or uncle, now wants to marry Esperanza's mother.  One night, after Esperanza's mom tells him no, her house burns down.  Now they are on a secret trip to America.

Right now, I am reading Restart by Gordan Korman. Chase, the main character has fallen off his roof and gotten amnesia. Now he's in the video club at his school. He used to be the school's biggest jock and bully, but since he got amnesia, he has a concussion so he can't play football. At the same time, Chase's dad wants Chase to play football even though the doctor hasn't given him the okay.  Read the rest to find out what happens next!

My favorite book that I read this week is Graphix Goes to School by James Burks. I like it because it shows examples how to do life lessons. For example, it talks about looking both ways to look before you cross the street

As I continue to read Mrs.Smith's Spy School for Girls, by Beth McMullen, it gets more and more interesting! Mrs. Smith has sent Abigail Hunter to San Fransisco from New York on a mission as bait for a sinister villain called "The Ghost". The Ghost is a villain who is on top of all the other villains, by which I mean he gives them equipment or whatever they need. Abigail's job is to be normal and wait for someone to catch her! Mrs.Smith's plan is that when Abigail gets captured, her mom, who is part of the spy organization, but has gone missing, swoops in and saves her. The rest of the story is a chain of events that you'll enjoy!

I read the book The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It follows a little girl that has a HORRIBLE LIFE. I have only read 60 pages of it and I cannot stop reading! It has  good adjectives.  The author's words make me have a great picture in my head of what is going on in the story.  If you want to know why the little girl has a HORRIBLE LIFE you have to read the book.

I read a book called The Magic Tree House:  Mummies in the Morning by Mary Pope Osborn. It was an okay book even though I think that it was kind of weird. The thing that happened in the book was that Jack and Annie were at the tree house and they heard a noise but they didn't know what it was. I would recommend this book to kids so you can find out what the noise was.

I am now reading a book called Goosebumps The Cuckoo Clock of Doom by RL Stine. It's about a boy named Michael.  He has a sister named Tara who gets him in trouble for something that she did. His birthday came and it was horrible. Then his dad got a clock and the man at the store told him it had a magic spell.  When Michael twisted the head he tried  to blameTara, but instead it made time go backwards.  I can't wait to find out what happens next.

I liked a book that was named I Survived The San Francisco Earthquake. I liked this book because it talks about a kid's memories of his grandfather.  It tells about the time someone stole something from him and they are trying to catch the people who stole.  I think this book has a really important message to all kids.

I have been reading Confession Yours: Save the Cupcake.  In this book, Haley is starting to get along with her dad's girlfriend, Annie.  They are at lunch and Haley tries to use some deal she and her dad had worked out 2 years before.  He would ask her, "drink or dollar?"  This time, she said dollar and her dad got mad.  I wonder what is going to happen?

You should read the book MAGIC TREE HOUSE DRAGON DARK by Mary Pope Osborne. The author uses a lot of dialogue.  Her characters care for each other.

The novel I recommend is The Summer I Lost It by Natalie Kath. It is about a girl who is trying to lose weight because she wants to feel better about herself and get a boyfriend. It's very funny in places.  Since it is about her life, it's realistic too.  She gets bullied sometimes. It's kind of sad. There is a group of people who give her nicknames Like Fat Kat because her name is Kat. She just got over a boy cause she realized he likes a different girl, but she has met another boy named Conner at the gym.  Read it to see what happens next.

Today I am going to tell you about the book Stone Fox by John Reynolds Gardner. It is about a boy called Little Willy. He lives on a farm with his grandfather. His grandfather looks sick.  He does not want to talk, walk, or even move. Little Willy wants to help his grandfather.  He chooses a really crazy way to help!  Read the book to find out what he does!

I am reading some books from a series that is called The-Baby-Sitters-Club. These are really good books because so many funny things happen in them.  You won't want to quit reading. Sometimes the girls fight though and that is a bad thing. The girls in the story are all babysitters so they come up with this big idea that they should make a club. You'll have to read them to learn more!

My favorite books are the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books by Jeff Kinney.  I love these books.  They are funny because one character, Rowley, never listens to Greg, the main character. For example, when Greg tells Rowley to not wear a costume but, of course, he did, hilarious things happened!

Book: The Julian Chapter A Wonder Story (Sample)

In this story, a boy named Julian first talks about his life in school.  At one point, his mom was making dinner when she suddenly got a call from Mr. Tushman.   His mom told him that Mr. Tushman asked if he would want to be a guide at school for a new kid, a boy named August.  When the day to help came, he and Jack, Will, Charlotte, and Cody were all guides for the new kid. When they came inside Mr. Tushman shook their hands.  I have to read the rest to find out what happened next!

I read The One and Only Ivan.  One interesting fact about this book is that the little elephant, Ruby, is a new elephant in the group.   She told the gorilla, Ivan, about how she fell in a hole and good men saved her, but bad men killed her family.

I am reading the Julian chapter of Wonder.  When I began reading, Julian gave an intro on how he knew that he was being mean to Auggie.  Then Will punched Julian, then Julian started write mean notes.  The book also talks about how the grandma had a hard time when she was little.  She cared about herself and her fashion. It was really interesting.  You will have to read it to know the details.

The book I'm reading is Hamster Princess: Giant Trouble by Ursula Vernon.  I like this book so far because of its adventures.  It is fun and exciting. The main character is a hamster, so it's like saying no matter who you are you're still unique and powerful in your own way.  In the story, she basically climbs up a giant BEANSTALK!  She does this with a quail-like bird that can't FLY! He only glides.  I won't tell you much more except that this is SUCH A GOOD BOOK SO FAR!
